The nature
Dorul Pescarului is far from the villages and towns in the area. It is protected on one side by Vâlsan River and on the other by a lake. As far as you can see, there is only greenery, pastures, forests and further in the north, Făgăraș Mountains. Drawn by water, here come a lot of birds. Deer and sometimes wild boars often come on the western side of the lake. The silence, the harmony, the chromatic balance charge you no matter how little time you spend here.
The activities
Dorul Pescarului is the ideal place both for those who love adventure (activities in nature, the exploration of new places) and those who prefer the joy of sitting inside, in a cozy place and contemplate nature.
The main activities that can be done in nature are: fishing, including fishing in ice hole, hiking in nature, easy or for advanced (we also organize climbs on Moldoveanu Peak), boating or kayaking.
For those who are comfortable, there is the possibility to enjoy the fitness room, the indoor swimming pool (under construction), car rides, painting or music workshops.
The place is near renowned tourist objectives: Curtea de Argeș town with its tourist objectives (The Royal Court, we mention here that it was the first capital city of Wallachia), Curtea de Argeș Monastery (the place where the royal family of Romania sleep their eternal sleep), Transfăgărășan with Dracula’s Fortress (Poenari) and Vidraru Lake and Dam, The Stone Church from Corbi, a number of unique hermitages and monasteries, Village Museum in Golești and Horezu area (located at about 50 km) or Câmpulung town (35 km).
And the list continues. Near Câmpulung is Nămăiești Monastery, carved in stone, which is connected to Apostle Andrew through a number of springs, The Mausoleum from Mateiaș, which speaks about the bravery of Romanian soldiers during World War I, towards west, near Horezu is One Wood Monastery with the well known icon of Virgin Mary, that makes miracles. There is a lot to see in these places. We promise to write about everything in our blog section that we will launch in the future.
At Dorul Pescarului we will organize a number of thematic camps about photography, painting, music, cooking. We will give more information on the website as soon as the periods are set.
We cook with soul
If there is something that will make you remember intensely this place, that is the food. It is not just a passion of ours, but a sum of years of experience. Dorul Pescarului is a place where we cook by old recipes and techniques with natural ingredients (like the fresh fish from our lake). Here you can eat duck, cooked in a pot, on the stove, fish soup cooked on trivet, fish on hot coals, sarmale smothered in a brick-oven, fresh cheese pie prepared in the area. Children’s joy
Dorul Pescarului is that place like in fairy tales and childhood at the countryside. We say that because endless pastures and forests, where children can play in safety and freedom, surround us. Then, here you can find a large playground for small children. For big ones, there is a number of activities in nature, boat trips on the lake, hiking, outdoor sport. The joy is enormous when families with many children come together, because playing together is always magical.
For those who fish
Without competing with classic fishing destinations, Dorul Pescarului is a place where those passionate of this sport can practice it intensely. The charm of this destination is that it can harmonize the activities of fishing with those of the whole family or it can even diversify their activity.
Fishing can be practice on the lake or rivers in the area. Ice fishing is allowed during the cold season.
Ambiance
Last but not least, you have to know that we have built everything with care for nature and thinking about preserving the harmony and joy that nature brings. The interiors are large, bright, overlooking the lake and with an interior design made by professionals. You should also know that many materials and interior design elements are made in Romanian workshops by Romanian artists. We believe in the idea of common sense, harmony and balance and all that we organized and arranged at Dorul Pecarului is made in this sense.
